Killary Harbour- Ireland’s only Fjord
Habour view looking back inland. Located in Connemara, this 10 mile long inlet has some of the finest scenery in the West of Ireland. The inlet forms a partial border, or boundry between counties Galway and Mayo, and is over 150 ft. deep. This amazing waterway has beautiful green mountain landscapes beside calm blue waters. Along its northern shore lies the mountain of Mweelrea, 2680 ft. high. The fjord with it’s naturally cold waters also supports a salmon farm.
